Cut-offs - Hyde Park - London.

I love this trend. It seems like everybody has got scissors and gone mental on their denim. Have a look...

On another note, I'm off to the Tate Modern here in London to see Picasso's Nude, Green Leaves and Bust painting. It is on loan at the moment for two years until the billionaire that paid US$106.5 million for it takes it back to his private collection. Did I mention that price broke all previous records for a painting ever sold at auction?

So, if you are in London, you better get your hiney over there and see it! It truly is a work of genius and beauty with so many hidden clues that take a substantial amount of time to understand but all worth it once you discover for yourself what it is all about.

Have yourselves a wonderful weekend.

Isn't it funny how you can learn something new all the time: we're members of the Tate, and often I'll go to the Modern just to sit in front of Monet's waterlillies until my husband finds me and says 'Jill, enough.' - but I didn't know about the Picasso. We might just go tomorrow, thanks for the tip off.

(Actually, when the previous record was something like $85 million - which, factoring in inflation, might actually be higher - it was for a Van Gogh, I believe. I was mentored in NY by the collector who sold it for that price, to a Japanese company. And I threw away my career to marry a British man and move to London.)

Anyway, what I came here to say was that I love how you put this collection together. I had thought cutoffs had peaked but I'm realising, they've just mutated into such creative directions. I love how this girl left hers with studded tails:

I like your two American flag versions, especially the faded one with the little belly button ring. Enjoy the Tate today, David, it's the perfect day for it: and lunch after at Borough Market!

Jorts! I'm glad you brought up the subject...

Jorts are being made fun of by the fashionable in-the-knows at my office...AND I have sneered at all forms of shorts on my own blog.

HOWEVER, cut-offs are what shorts should be - a way to extend the life of a pair of pants. Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to go grab a pair of scissors.

why can't I look 1/2 as good in cut offs as all these fabulous fahsionistas.
ugh. sigh.

I love the word 'jorts' Underemployed, hilarious.
They conjure up many images from my past including the always innocent...hmmmm....spin the bottle with Pietro Camino in Gr. 8. Yikes.
I'd have to wear some creative ones like you have shown here.
Just watched the sale on Christies.com of Picasso's piece. Crazy!

i love the first and last pictures, great styles
i know it doesn´t make sense because art needs someone who buys it to exist(or at least to exist outside the walls of the artist´s house) but i hate that some rich guy can buy an art piece and take it away from us. it should be public... words of an art history student, so i´m not impartial

the most expensive painting ever, i saw a programme on it last week. it was a top 10. glad the fella has lend it out, they're made to be enjoyed so don't be greedy people!

i do not want to see this style on men!

I think you're right - seeing a lot of cutoffs here in the states, too.
Great set of shots. The python print jacket in the first one is especially cool.

Getcher scissors out and start snipping!

Picasso was a genius in the truest form and for me he was up there with Le Corbusier....prodigious people that we may never see the likes of again.

Vix said...

I love Picasso, it's almost worth splashing out on a train trip down to the Big Smoke just so I can catch this.
Cut downs, a look that's been around for a few years and shows no signs of going away anytime soon. x
