Glamorous Girl - Just off Rue Saint-Honoré - Paris.

I run into this young lady here on the Rue Saint-Honoré while coming from Colette for some 'retail therapy' - more like getting deeper into debt - and she informed me that she had just arrived in Paris that morning of the fourth of March on her way to the shows but graciously agreed to pose for me and off she went.

"New Yorker," she later informed me but I already knew that even before she opened her mouth. There's something about New Yorkers that instantly catches my eye - all thanks to The Photodiarist. Now I can spot a New Yorker a mile away - the big hat, the big black shades, the red lipstick...the 'all-black everything' capital of the world. It's that simple.

What are the characteristics of your city's hipsters?

Very New York. I love her rings. I still can't get a handle on Chicago style, but I'm taking lessons from chicagostreetstyle.com.

She's glorious. Nice shot, David.
Our city, on the cusp of warmer weather, is dominated but Queen's University students who try to 'out-trend' each other. Ugg. Need I say more. Stop looking down at your Uggs and Crackberry and pay attention to where you are going...and yes, you look like you are freezing and miserable. That's not stylish.
And there is still ice on our pool so put away your cork wedges.
The real style that sticks out here are those who strut around downtown, dressed for the elements that Eastern Ontario has to offer, but with the classic touches of wool and well-worn leather and a dash of colour in an accessory they didn't get from H&M.

Black and beautiful, black can be so dull. But this one is the opposite of dull because of the different textures and layers. Of course I am in love with that divine lace skirt. I love the scarf because of the texture and the print. Fabulous photo

She is dressed so nicely! I like all the black, it is very New York of her.. In Portland there are hipsters everywhere.. A lot of them wear hats and sweaters and plaid... and boots, and organic clothes..

I could instantly tell she was a New Yorker as well. No way is she French... Parisians are never that polished and strive for the bed-hair look. I don't think I need to describe the London hipster to you though ;-)

Although not personally one of them Manchester has such a fashion forward crowd, normally low key and a bit grungy but I've spied things in Manchester that only appear months later in London, especially with men. Not that you'd think from the London-centric blogosphere - so shed a tear for us in the wilderness.
